Spanish Riding School Performance

The Spanish Riding School of Vienna is the oldest and last Riding School in the world where classic dressage is still practised in its purest form. This Institute was founded in 1572 and its very name gives away the fact that the horses are Spanish.

The Spanish Riding School of Vienna is the only riding academy in the world which has been cultivating the art of equitation in its purest form for over 400 years, and which trains both horses (the famous white Lipizzaners) and riders according to methods which have been used for centuries, passed down over the years by word of mouth alone.

The horses are Arabian/Stallion mixes; they're born black and eventually turn pure white. They're taken from the Piber breeder when they're 3-4 years old, and they're matched with a rider (who has already been training for years) and then both the horse and rider go through another 8 years of training together before the horse is allowed to perform.
